Another job for Nedjeljni Jutarnji cover... Vlatko Markovich, president of Croatian Football Federation - I submitted colored artwork, but they decided for black and white version.... Here it is, color and pencils only...

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

i forgot to put this on blog... This is portrait of Hloverka Novak Srzić, a famous Croatian journalist. This is first illustration which was published on the cover of newspaper Jutarnji list since its beggining, so I'm proud of it, although it is one day work and it is not so good I wanted it to be... anyway..

punisher

Thanks to Mr. Cebulski and Bon Alimagno from Marvel, I was granted a chance to try some pencil work on Punisher pages, originally drawn by Goran Parlov ( Punisher Max #55)... My layouts didn't pass, I have to work out a little bit more on rendering of the clothes and consistency of the faces... more practice, I'll say!

Terminus page 6

From sketch to finished pencil... ink to come!

marvel

These are two pages I did for the C.B. Cebulski, a nice guy who works for Marvel as an talent recruitor. He visited 'Mafest', Makarska's comics festival and he actualy liked my stuff!

Terminus

It's been a while since I uploaded anything to this blog, due to my laziness primarily... so my apologies for that! I'll try to upload everything I do from now on (that was the purpose of this blog in a first place).

So last serious thing I did was cooperation with Miki Horvatić in a project named Terminus, an proposal for Zuda comics site (we ended up in 4th place! in april competition). The project isn't closed, we are continuing with it, so check it up in this blog or Terminus blog!

tool logo

Here is my version of the tool band's logo, ment to be a tattoo... hope you like it!
Just pencil, be patient for ink!

Dig this: a guy emailed me wanting a better resolution picture of this tool logo so that he can tattoo it! After few months he actually did it - this is a photo just few days after the tattoo was finished. I think it turned out great: Thank you again Chris, I'm so proud!

dina

This should be a short intro story of a sf fantasy comic I wanted to do. Originally I thought it to be like this, but then I changed the main character (now Taya, from earlier posts). Still working on a script synopsis, unfortunately...

agent d

Another project which I hope to be succesful - in cooperation with writer from Zagreb, this should be blast from the past (II WW)

front cover

My first front cover! Published recently in local comic magazine! Colors by me and Photoshop...

salambo

She should be the main character in that comic for Delcourt.. French colorist again.

delcourt

These pages are from my unsuccessful project with publishing house Delcourt. It is very powerful story dated 300. bc and I'm very sad it didn't work out. But is interesting to see how pages evolved to their finished state... Artist's job isn't easy one!

For first page I had to draw a complex feast scene taking place in front of a emperor's palace. Some french colorist did the colors.

Suggestion was that the party should look more wild, and it was true - so I ended in adding more people, which was not satisfactory eather (left)... So it ended like this (right):

And the second page also went through some changes (another great job from colorist):

I had difficulties with third page, which was kind of dull, and I was satisfied with the following final result (transformations from left to right):
